Reflux surgery

Gastroesophageal reflux is a very common issue and affects approximately 20% of the general population. It describes the pathologic reflux of gastric acid into the esophagus, resulting in chronic inflammation and symptoms. We are specialized in the surgical treatment for reflux disease, offering a variety of surgical techniques to achieve the ideal result for every individual patient. 

  • RefluxStop

    RefluxStop is a novel technique in the treatment of reflux disease. It reconstructs the normal anatomy and supports the reconstruction with a small implant that is positioned inside the stomach wall. This technique has several advantages over prior techniques, making it our favorite approach. 

  • Toupet-fundoplication

    The classic Toupet-fundoplication uses parts of the proximal stomach (fundus) to create a wrap around the distal esophagus. This wrap improvers pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter, thus reducing reflux into the esophagus. This technique is well established and shows good results.
