Dr. med. Nicolas Clément is Swiss board-certified Surgeon with an additional board certification in Visceral Surgery. He graduated from University of Bern, Switzerland in 2007. During his residency at the University Hospital in Bern and in regional hospitals in Bern, Zürich and Basel he has been trained in general and visceral surgery. He obtained the swiss board certification (FMH) in general surgery in 2016. From 2015 onward he has been a consultant Surgeon at the Claraspital in Basel, a highly specialized center for visceral surgery with a special focus on bariatric surgery. He was trained in bariatric surgery at this European center of excellence and Swiss center of reference for bariatric surgery under the lead of Prof. Ralph Peterli, an internationally renowned specialist in bariatric surgery. He has performed more than 2500 surgical procedures and in 2019 he obtained the subspecialty board certification for visceral surgery. Dr. Clément has participated in numerous clinical and theoretical trainings to broaden his scientific, and clinical experience. He has been involved in numerous research projects and published several peer-reviewed scientific papers. He has been invited to speak at several international congresses on the topics of minimally-invasive and bariatric surgery and maintains a constant interaction with internationally renowned specialists in bariatric surgery. Dr. Clément has been dedicated to deliver optimal results for his patients throughout his career. He decided to focus his career on bariatric and minimally invasive surgery and therefore achieve a highly specialized training that allows him to perform all procedures with precision and care for his patients. He founded the Swiss Obesity Center in Zürich in 2019.
